Pinellas County Commissioners will select two members for the Pinellas County Educational Facilities Authority at their 9:30 a.m. meeting on Oct. 13. The appointments will fill two five-year terms starting Oct. 27.

The authority issues conduit-financing bonds and makes loans for educational projects. Borrowing institutions repay the loans and administrative costs, supporting educational institutions across the county.

Seven applicants are on the ballot: Philip R. DiBlasi, Adan L. Jackson, Jeffrey D. Kuhl, Sandra Manna, Robert L. Newman, Grace M. Smith and Diana Silveira. Smith and Silveira currently serve second terms ending Oct. 25 and are eligible for reappointment.

Commissioners appoint all five authority members, including one who must hold a role at an institution of higher education. The authority considers only projects the commission approves. The appointment is item 33 on the Oct. 13 agenda.
