Edgecombe Community College Inducts 16 Into Phi Theta Kappa
Edgecombe Community College inducted 16 students into the Alpha Omega Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society during a spring ceremony.
Dr. LaShawnda Washington, dean of College and Career Readiness and Human Resources Development, told the new members to carry fellowship into their classrooms and communities. "May you represent Edgecombe Community College with distinction—not only through what you accomplish, but how you treat others," Washington said.
Washington challenged inductees to practice presence, build bridges, serve together, think globally and encourage others. She emphasized the power of direct affirmation: "A simple 'I believe in you,' a handwritten note, a message of congratulations, a moment of grace when someone falls short."
The new inductees are Sierrea Fuller, Brooklyn Harris, Tequila Gorham, Tabita Ausby, Brandice Hoggard, Jalyssa Tate, Amelia Lynch, Destinee Williams, Gavin Allen, Chayce Bryant, Austin Bryant, Olivia Edwards, Abigail Jordan, Sierra Leaston, John Pollard and Laderrick Whitaker.
Phi Theta Kappa recognizes scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship among community college students. ECC established its chapter in 1994.
