
Berkeley Prep Middle School Launches Community Service in Tampa
Berkeley Preparatory School's Middle Division students launched a new community service initiative, dedicating time to local issues like food insecurity, affordability, and homelessness. Students visited nearly 30 community venues across Tampa during their first service day.

Berkeley Preparatory School's Middle Division students have begun a series of six community service days planned for the academic year, with the first day of service taking place recently. This initiative aims to engage students in volunteer work and cultivate civic responsibility within the Tampa community.
During the recent service day, students dedicated half of their time to grade-level projects. Sixth graders addressed food insecurity in Hillsborough County. Seventh graders partnered with Metropolitan Ministries and Clothes for Kids to address affordability issues. Eighth graders focused on understanding and contributing to solutions for homelessness.
The remainder of the service day saw students visit nearly 30 community venues across Tampa. These sites included local elementary schools, retirement communities, memory care facilities, food banks and parks, allowing students to experience diverse forms of community engagement.
Berkeley Preparatory School develops individuals who impact the world. The school's commitment to community service provides students with practical experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom and encourage active participation in addressing societal needs throughout the Tampa Bay area.
