Excavator Operator - Employment - Tama County, Iowa Toledo Shed B Excavator Operator full-time position. Starting pay per hour: $28.38 Responsibilities: Based out of Toledo Shed B, under direction of the Road Foreman, the position is responsible for basic operation and maintenance of an excavator and other duties as assigned. This is a designated Utility Worker 2 wage classification. Winter operations will include plowing snow with a motor grader and driving a plow truck supplementing existing routes. The route covered will be fluid to assist where it is needed most and will vary from event to event. The operator is also responsible for equipment upkeep, digital reporting, and public interaction. Must be able to perform required duties in a satisfactory manner without continuous supervision. Knows the county’s customer service principles, the county’s mission, strategic plan, values, and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction and quality of work performed. The first public reading will be held during the regularly scheduled Tama County Joint E911 Service Board meeting on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026. This meeting is held in-person at 6:30 PM at the Tama County Engineer’s Office Conference Room, located at 1003 East 5th Street, Tama, IA 52339. THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS WILL RECEIVE NOMINATIONS FOR THE COMPENSATION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE MUNICIPAL UTILITY OF THE CITY OF TRAER AT THEIR REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING on January 12, 2005. Any person interested in serving on the Board of Directors may be nominated at this time.
The Tama County Zoning Board of Adjustment is established to hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Zoning Administrator in the enforcement of the Tama County Zoning Ordinance. The Board also has the power to grant variances from the strict application of the Zoning Ordinance where it is shown that unnecessary hardship would result from such strict application. The Board meets on a regular basis, typically monthly, and its meetings are open to the public. Agendas and minutes of the Zoning Board of Adjustment meetings are made available for public inspection.
The Tama County Zoning Department is responsible for issuing all building permits, septic system permits, and ensures compliance with all zoning ordinances. The Zoning Department also manages land use and development within the unincorporated areas of the county. The department is also involved in flood plain management and issues permits in the flood plain. The department also provides guidance and assistance to the public regarding subdivisions, zoning districts, and any related questions. The Zoning Department is committed to promoting the health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of Tama County by guiding growth and development in an orderly manner.
Administers and enforces the Tama County Zoning Ordinance. Provides technical assistance and advice to the Board of Supervisors, Board of Adjustment, and the Planning and Zoning Commission. Processes and issues permits for dwellings, garages, accessory structures, commercial and industrial structures, and septic systems in the unincorporated areas of Tama County. Processes and issues permits in the Flood Plain in the unincorporated areas of Tama County. Receives, reviews, and forwards to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Supervisors all applications for subdivision plats. Maintains all zoning maps and records pertaining to the administration and enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance.
