Tallassee Council Approves Hemp Sales, Hires Legal Counsel
The Tallassee City Council unanimously approved Road Runner Package Store's application to sell consumable hemp products at its April 14 meeting.
The council also hired attorney Rick Howard to handle pending litigation and authorized a memorandum of understanding with E-footprints, a grant-writing firm that charges fees only if it secures funding. Mayor Joey Wiginton said the council will vote on each grant application individually.
The council approved bids for surplus city items and unanimously approved employee Lori Lamb's donation of 16 vacation hours to coworker Andrea Thornton.
Wiginton said a data center company is exploring the old 1852 mill site, though discussions remain in early stages. The Red, White, and Blue Festival takes place in two weeks.
