Simultaneously, peace talks involving the United States and Iran have paused. These discussions were ongoing prior to Khamenei's death.
Major General Hossein Salami, commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, appeared publicly amidst the arrangements for the funeral. Mojtaba Khamenei, a son of the deceased leader, is also expected to attend the services.
