The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking to fill one opening for a Family Support Specialist 1 position within the Screven County Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS). The advertised salary for this role is $33,389.98 annually.

This position serves as the initial point of contact for social services within the county, involving client interviews to assess needs, explaining available support services, and referring individuals to community resources. The Family Support Specialist 1 will also assist clients in completing necessary forms, maintain confidential client records, and may be required to transport clients to appointments. Proficiency in the state's automated child welfare information system, GaKids, will be a requirement.

To qualify, applicants must possess either a vocational/technical degree in social work, behavioral sciences, or a directly related field from an accredited college, or a high school diploma or GED along with one year of experience in a social services-related field. The position is classified under Pay Grade D.

The Georgia Department of Human Services notes that while all qualified applicants will be considered, interviews are not guaranteed for all candidates. Furthermore, only those who achieve a score of 70 or higher on the examination will be considered for the role. The department reserves the right to close the application period at any time once a satisfactory pool of applicants is identified.
