Winter Storm Watch Issued: Heavy Snow, Blowing Snow Possible in Mountains

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the Absaroka/Beartooth Mountains and Crazy Mountains, with heavy snow and blowing snow possible from Saturday evening through late Sunday night.

Residents and travelers in the Absaroka/Beartooth Mountains and Crazy Mountains should monitor forecasts closely as a Winter Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service in Billings, MT.

Heavy snow and blowing snow are possible from Saturday evening through late Sunday night, October 10-11. Total snow accumulations greater than 12 inches are possible, with winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

This watch is in effect from October 9 at 12:39 AM MDT until October 12 at 6:00 AM MDT. The National Weather Service warns that travel could be very difficult to impossible over Beartooth Pass and in and around Cooke City. Backcountry recreation will also be impacted.
