Hamilton High Students Interview Trades Contractors

Three Hamilton High School students completed five interviews each with contractors during a Youth Apprenticeship Interview Day on April 15 at two Wauwatosa locations: the Plumbing Mechanical Sheet Metal Contractors' Alliance office and the Milwaukee Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.
Fourteen contractors participated, including Bredan Mechanical, Butters Fetting Inc., Grunau Company, J.F. Ahern Co., J.M. Brennan, Karlsen Plumbing, Lee Mechanical, Major Mechanical, Mared Mechanical, Mattox Plumbing, Oak Creek Plumbing, and Total Mechanical & AGI Fabricators.
Representatives from four union training programs attended to answer questions about apprenticeship pathways: Local 75 (Plumbing), Local 601 (Steam Fitters), Local 18 (Sheet Metal), and Local 494 (Electrical).
"This experience helped our students build confidence and strengthen their interview skills while establishing early connections within industries they are passionate about," said Sheila Frafjord, Hamilton High School business education teacher and Youth Apprenticeship coordinator.
Hamilton High School plans to expand student participation in future Youth Apprenticeship Interview Days.
