Lake Wind Advisory Issued: Hazardous Conditions Expected on Area Lakes
A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for central South Carolina, warning boaters of hazardous conditions due to strong winds and rough waves on area lakes from 5 AM to 11 PM EDT on Saturday, October 10.
Boaters on area lakes are advised to use extra caution due to a Lake Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Columbia, SC. Strong winds and rough waves are expected to create hazardous conditions for small craft.
The advisory is in effect from 5 AM to 11 PM EDT on Saturday, October 10. East winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are anticipated across a portion of central South Carolina.
Affected counties include Chesterfield, Newberry, Fairfield, Kershaw, Saluda, Lexington, Richland, Lee, Aiken, Sumter, Barnwell, Calhoun, Clarendon, Bamberg, Northern Lancaster, Southern Lancaster, Northwestern Orangeburg, Central Orangeburg, and Southeastern Orangeburg.
The NWS warns that these conditions can overturn small craft. Boaters should be aware of the increased risk and take appropriate precautions during the advisory period.
