SMCC Joins National AI Workforce Training Initiative

Southwest Mississippi Community College will participate in the Higher Education AI Community of Practice, a national program that brings together five community colleges to integrate artificial intelligence into teaching, workforce preparation, and curriculum development.
JFF and Salesforce organized the initiative. SMCC will send three representatives: Reginald Matthews, Director of Information Technology; Dr. Wendy Smith, Associate Vice President of Workforce Training; and Colter Cotten, Computer Science Instructor.
The program allows participating colleges to share approaches for incorporating AI into technical certifications and degree programs. SMCC serves students across Southwest Mississippi from its Summit campus and satellite locations.
Matthews manages the college's technology infrastructure. Smith oversees workforce training programs connecting students to regional employers. Cotten teaches computer science and emerging technologies.
SMCC offers programs in information technology and computer science.
