PRESS RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE April 7, 2026   Spring is here, and it is time to “Refresh Concordia!”  The City Commission is excited to announce our City-Wide Cleanup Event, where you can place unwanted items at the curb, and the city will help haul them away, free of charge! Please pay special attention to what items are accepted and when in order for the clean-up to run smoothly.   “The citywide cleanup has continued to be a fantastic way for citizens to tackle their to-do list. I hope our citizens take advantage of this yearly event,” says Concordia Mayor Ashley Hutchinson. In recognition of National Volunteer Week, April 19th through the 24th, residents are encouraged to lend a helping hand to neighbors who may need assistance preparing items for pickup. This annual event is a great opportunity to give back and support the Concordia community.   Concordia residents are encouraged to place items at their curbs on April 20th through April 27th.   City crews will begin collecting items from the curb on Monday, April 27th. Items must be placed at the curb before 7:00AM Monday, April 26th to guarantee pickup. Tree limbs less than 4 inches in diameter (not trees), appliances and furniture will be collected at the curb. Household trash, construction debris, and wooden pallets will not be collected. Residents are responsible to ensure items are and remain sorted at the curb. Items not sorted will not be collected.   As a reminder for this event. Passenger car and truck tires, without the rims, will still be accepted free of charge, but must be brought to the City Shop parking lot at 519 Mill Street between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., Monday, April 27th through Friday, May 1st. Residents dropping off passenger car and truck tires must show proof of a Concordia address to use this service. A current valid driver’s license or utility bill dated within the last month may be used.   Items remaining at the curb after May 1st will be treated as a nuisance, and a cleanup fee of $300 will be charged.   Residents with questions may call City Hall at (785) 243-2670 or visit the City’s website www.concordiaks.org.
