Strong Storms Approach McIntosh, Pittsburg, Haskell Counties

Residents in McIntosh, Pittsburg, and Haskell counties should be aware of strong thunderstorms currently moving through the area. The National Weather Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 4:45 PM CDT today, September 20, 2026.

At 4:14 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a line of strong thunderstorms extending from 4 miles east of Haywood to 3 miles southeast of Eufaula. These storms are moving east at 30 mph.

The primary hazard associated with these storms is wind gusts up to 40 mph. The National Weather Service warns that these gusty winds could knock down small tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations in or near the path of these storms include McAlester, Eufaula, Krebs, Savanna, Crowder, Alderson, Canadian, Indianola, Haywood, Blocker, Vivian, Arrowhead State Park, McAlester Regional Airport, Enterprise, Arpelar, Bache, and Featherston.

If you are outdoors, the National Weather Service advises seeking shelter inside a building until the storms pass.
