USPS Package Intercept® service lets the sender (or authorized representative) stop delivery or redirect a package, letter, or flat that is not out for delivery or already delivered. Most domestic mailings with a tracking or extra services barcode are eligible for Package Intercept. Retail Senders can redirect a shipment back to their address or to a Post Office location as Hold For Pickup. Requests can only be made online with a USPS.com account. Commercial Senders can redirect a shipment back to their address, to a new delivery address, or to a Post Office location as Hold For Pickup via Business Customer Gateway. How It Works: 1. Verify that your shipment is eligible for Package Intercept 2. Sign in to or create a USPS.com account to submit your request 3. Use Retail Package Intercept to request redirection 4. After submitting, you'll receive an estimated total (intercept fee plus estimated Priority Mail postage) 5. USPS will attempt to intercept and redirect the shipment 6. If intercepted, credit card is charged $19.45 Package Intercept fee plus applicable postage 7. Shipment is redirected to the requested location Paying for Package Intercept: All intercepted items are redirected as Priority Mail. Customers must pay applicable Priority Mail postage, except when originally sent using Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, or First-Class Mail. Customers are not charged if the shipment was not intercepted. The non-refundable $19.45 Package Intercept fee applies to each successful intercept request. Additional services available for intercepted packages include Adult Signature Required, Adult Signature Restricted Delivery, Signature Confirmation, and insurance. Determining Eligibility: What Is Eligible: - Domestic USPS mail services with USPS Tracking or extra services barcode - Packages whose total length and girth length is not larger than 130 inches What Is Not Eligible: - USPS Marketing Mail products and periodicals - Items addressed to a Commercial Mailing Receiving Agency - Items redirected to a PO Box - Nonmailable items, items with surface-only transportation markings such as Label 127, Surface Mail Only, or items bearing hazardous materials markings such as Consumer Commodity ORM-D
