1 week agoWater Main Project Notice
The City of Wayne is continuing its program to replace some of the oldest water mains in the community, and will begin this project the week of September 21.
The current planned project includes replacing water main on Logan, Nebraska and Windom Streets from the north side of 7th Street to the south side of 10th Street. The project is being funded through assistance from the Nebraska Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund which offered a low interest loan for the project.
The contractor for the project is Penro Construction from Pender, Nebraska. One of their key subcontractors is Bauer Underground, who will directionally bore the installation of the water main to minimize excavation work. Excavations will be necessary for all connection points. In addition, the project will include some improvements to sidewalks at intersections impacted by the project to improve ADA accessibility.
The project will begin on Windom Street, most likely at 9th and Windom and boring will be extended to the north and south from this location. Initial installation of the water main should not impact water service. However, when water services are connected to the new water main, customers may be without water for a few hours. The project is scheduled to take approximately one month for each street and should conclude before Christmas if weather allows.
Anyone with special health conditions or health concerns should contact City at 402-375-1733 so that coordination arrangements may be made. In addition, customers will be notified in advance of scheduled outages with door hangars/notices.
