Lake County Cuts Irrigation to One Day Per Week

Lake County cuts irrigation to one day per week as drought deepens

The St. Johns River Water Management District imposed a Phase III Extreme Water Shortage Order on May 13, cutting landscape irrigation from two days per week to one across Lake County.

Odd-numbered addresses may water on Saturdays. Even-numbered addresses may water on Sundays. Nonresidential properties may water on Tuesdays. All watering must occur outside 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The restrictions apply to potable water, reclaimed water, and private wells.

New plants and sod are exempt for 60 days after installation: daily watering for 15 days, then three days per week for 30 days, then two days per week for 15 days.

Mount Dora officials said dry conditions and seasonal demand have strained reclaimed water supplies. Customers may experience service interruptions as the system adjusts.

Phase III represents the most severe conservation level in the district's drought response protocol. The district oversees water resources across 18 counties in northeast and east-central Florida.
