A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL for Coastal Duval, Northeast Coastal St. Johns, and South Central Duval. This statement is effective immediately, issued at 8:45 AM EDT, and expires at 9:15 AM EDT today, October 9, 2026.

Residents outdoors in the affected areas should consider seeking shelter inside a building. Doppler radar is tracking a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a landspout near Ponte Vedra Beach, moving northwest at 15 mph. Hazards include landspouts and wind gusts around 40 mph, as indicated by radar. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible, and gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include UNF, Ponte Vedra Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Palm Valley, Sawgrass, Mayport, Craig Field, and San Pablo. Torrential rainfall is also occurring and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways.
