Springfield Completes 16 Street Paving Projects in 2025
Springfield paved 16 neighborhood streets in 2025 under an infrastructure program funded by an earned income tax levy voters approved in 2017.
The completed streets are Irwin Avenue, Willow Drive, Cape Cod Drive, Doris Drive, Reading Drive, Dellwood Drive, Leland Drive, Eastmoor Drive, Mayfair Drive, Windsor Avenue, South Arlington Avenue, South Douglas Avenue, Cortland Drive, Feese Place, Villa Road and Bechtle Avenue.
The city launched the Neighborhood Street Paving Program to fulfill a promise that tax revenue would repair residential streets. Since the program began, Springfield has repaved more than 114 roadways citywide.
Paving improves traction, reduces vehicle wear and eliminates potholes that form as asphalt ages. The work focuses on streets families use to reach schools, businesses and main thoroughfares.
The earned income tax levy provides dedicated funding for street repairs, keeping them from competing with other budget priorities. Springfield has released a map showing all completed paving projects since the program began. The map is available on the city's website.
