Dense Fog Expected Overnight: Drive with Caution
Dense fog is expected to develop overnight across Central Kentucky, potentially reducing visibility to one-quarter mile or less; drivers should use low beams, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time.
A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Louisville KY, warning of possible dense fog across much of Central Kentucky tonight. Motorists should prepare for rapidly changing visibility, potentially dropping to one-quarter mile or less, especially east of I-65.
This statement is effective immediately, beginning October 11, 2026, at 8:59 PM EDT, and is set to expire on October 12, 2026, at 5:00 AM EDT. As low clouds dissipate overnight, conditions will become favorable for fog formation.
The affected counties include Hardin, Bullitt, Henry, Shelby, Franklin, Scott, Harrison, Spencer, Anderson, Woodford, Fayette, Bourbon, Nicholas, Nelson, Washington, Mercer, Jessamine, Clark, Larue, Marion, Boyle, Garrard, Madison, Hart, Green, Taylor, Casey, Lincoln, Allen, Barren, Monroe, Metcalfe, Adair, Russell, Cumberland, and Clinton.
The NWS advises drivers to allow for greater distances between vehicles, use low beam headlights, and allocate extra time for travel to reach destinations safely.
