SPRING HILL – The Hernando County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) provides residents multiple ways to access public records, including arrest and offense reports, through its website. The HCSO Records Section offers resources for requesting information, defining public records, and answering frequently asked questions.

For those interested in criminal activity, the HCSO website allows users to search for arrest and offense reports. Users can view reports and arrests from specific dates, with quick links for "Yesterday," "9/11," "9/10," "9/9," "9/8," "9/7," "9/6," and "9/5." Arrest searches can be filtered by first or last name. This search provides information only on arrests made by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. A separate Jail Search page lists all arrests booked into the Hernando County Jail.

The HCSO website also offers civil data, allowing residents to view individuals served with legal papers within the last three days. A search function permits users to find civil data by entering a person's first and last name. The Sheriff's Office notes a potential delay between service and the data's appearance in the computer system.

For information on registered offenders, the HCSO website directs users to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Sex Offender and Predator database. Links are available to search the state database and view a map of local sex offenders and predators. The HCSO emphasizes its public records database includes only information not deemed confidential under Florida law. Records prior to Oct. 1, 1995, require a formal request.

Residents can find more information on requesting records and defining public records on the HCSO Records Section homepage.
