SPRING HILL, FL – Hernando County Government opened a self-serve sandbag station at Linda Pedersen Park for residents anticipating minor coastal flooding. The station operates Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, October 9, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The station is located at Linda Pedersen Park, 6300 Shoal Line Blvd., Spring Hill, FL 34607. Residents must bring their own shovels to fill the sandbags. This measure addresses anticipated minor coastal flooding for low-lying areas near the Gulf.
Hernando County Emergency Management advises filling bags one-half to two-thirds full for maximum effectiveness. Proper stacking involves staggering seams and tucking the bag tops under to create a seal with their own weight. This protects vulnerable homes, especially those closer to the water.
