Inman Gets $200K Grant to Fix Flood-Prone Drainage
The City of Inman received a $200,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to overhaul the stormwater drainage system on North Howard Street, where heavy rainfall regularly floods homes and businesses.
The project will replace undersized and deteriorating pipes, upgrade existing structures, and add erosion control measures. Engineers will expand the system's capacity to handle major rainfall events.
"Addressing the drainage issues on North Howard Street has been a priority for the City, and this grant will allow us to make significant improvements," Mayor Brian Sims said.
The Appalachian Regional Commission funds infrastructure projects across 13 states, including parts of South Carolina. Inman has not announced a construction timeline.
