High Wind Watch Issued for Northern Denali Borough, Eastern Alaska Range

A High Wind Watch has been issued for the Northern Denali Borough and the Eastern Alaska Range North of Trims Camp, including Windy Pass, effective from Thursday evening, September 24, through Saturday afternoon, September 26.

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks reports that south winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 to 70 mph are possible during this period. Residents and travelers in the affected areas should prepare for strong winds that could displace unsecured objects. Travel may become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

The High Wind Watch was issued on September 22 at 2:08 PM AKDT and is in effect until September 26 at 1:00 PM AKDT.
