RISD Names Derica Turner Principal of Audelia Creek Elementary

Richardson Independent School District appointed Derica Turner as principal of Audelia Creek Elementary, effective next school year. Turner brings 15 years of education leadership, most recently as Executive Director of Special Education for Cedar Hill ISD.

At Cedar Hill, Turner led coaching initiatives and operational improvements that increased instructional time, strengthened support services, and boosted teacher retention. She has held roles as assistant principal, instructional coach, and classroom teacher, managing campus operations, evaluating teachers, and building community partnerships.

Turner holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of North Texas. She is certified as a principal for grades EC-12 and holds additional certifications in Special Education, ESL, and generalist instruction.
