A Freeze Warning has been issued for Central Interior Cumberland and Androscoggin Counties. Residents are advised to take immediate steps to protect tender plants from cold temperatures and prepare to safeguard unprotected outdoor plumbing.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Gray, ME, issued the warning today, October 6, at 1:12 PM EDT. Sub-freezing temperatures, potentially as low as 25°F, are expected to begin at midnight tonight, October 6, and continue until 8:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, October 7.

Frost and freeze conditions during this period could result in damage to crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be affected. The NWS advises taking action now to cover or bring indoors any vulnerable plants.
