South Miami School Implements New Bell Schedule and Morning Drop-Off Procedures

A local South Miami school implemented changes to its bell schedule and morning drop-off procedures, impacting daily routines for students and parents. The adjustments aim to streamline arrivals and dismissals while ensuring student supervision.

Under the new schedule, all students will be dismissed at 2:00 PM on Fridays. On regular weekdays, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students dismiss at 2:00 PM, while 2nd through 5th Grade students dismiss at 3:00 PM. School officially begins at 8:15 AM, with campus access available from 7:45 AM.

For morning arrivals, students can enter the campus as early as 7:45 AM at the white gate. Staff members supervise students arriving between 7:45 AM and 8:15 AM as a free service, designed to alleviate morning drop-off traffic. However, any student arriving before 7:45 AM must enroll in the Before School Care program, as the school does not assume responsibility for unsupervised students prior to this time.

Before School Care hours run from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM, totaling 45 minutes of supervised care. After Care Hours extend until 6:00 PM, providing extended supervision for students. Additionally, on the first Friday of every month, parents may walk their children directly to classrooms between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM, offering a special opportunity for direct parent involvement during morning arrival.
