TEECS Wins 7 Medals at Elementary Science Olympiad
TEECS students won seven medals Saturday across eight events at the Elementary Science Olympiad, hosted at the school and attended by three other elementary schools.
The competition included Bridge Building, Straw Tower, Paper Rocket, and Elements Compounds Mixtures, along with four additional hands-on challenges. Teams applied science and engineering principles to practical problems with measurable outcomes.
In Bridge Building, students designed load-bearing structures. Straw Tower required teams to construct the tallest stable structure from limited materials. Paper Rocket challenged students to launch projectiles for distance, while Elements Compounds Mixtures asked them to identify and classify chemical concepts.
The format emphasized teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving through physical construction and real-time experimentation rather than written tests. TEECS teachers spent months preparing students for the competition.
