Strong Storm Over Dothan: Gusty Winds Expected

A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL for parts of Dale, Henry, Geneva, and Houston counties. Residents are advised that a strong thunderstorm is currently located over Dothan, moving south at 10 mph.

This storm is producing wind gusts up to 40 mph, as indicated by Doppler radar. The NWS warns that these gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

The affected areas include Cottonwood, Headland, Dothan, Taylor, Midland City, Kinsey, Slocomb, Cowarts, Webb, Pinckard, Malvern, Rehobeth, Grimes, Avon, Napier Field, Madrid, Memphis, Hollis Dairy Road, Garretts Crossroads, and Kirkland Crossroads.

The Special Weather Statement is effective immediately, issued at 5:07 PM CDT on September 20, 2026, and is set to expire at 5:45 PM CDT today. If you are outdoors in the affected areas, consider seeking shelter inside a building for your safety.
