A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Southeast St. Tammany, including Slidell, as of 10:12 AM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans. This watch signifies that tropical storm-force winds and life-threatening storm surge are possible within the next 48 hours.

Residents in surge-prone areas of Southeast St. Tammany should prepare for life-threatening storm surge flooding of 3 to 5 feet above ground. The window of concern for this surge is from Friday morning until Saturday morning. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, you must leave. Failure to evacuate may result in loss of life.

Wind gusts of 20-30 mph, with potential for up to 35 mph, are anticipated. Isolated power and communication outages, along with minor damage to unanchored structures, are possible. Efforts to protect property should begin immediately. Complete all preparations before winds become hazardous.
