A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Southeast St. Tammany, including Slidell, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA, effective October 7 at 9:59 PM CDT. Residents in these areas should prepare for tropical storm-force winds and life-threatening storm surge.

A Storm Surge Warning indicates a danger of life-threatening inundation of 3-5 feet above ground from rising water. This surge is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed immediately. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave to avoid being cut off from emergency services.

Tropical storm-force winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are expected within the next 36 hours. This could cause limited damage to property, downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway now. Complete preparations before winds become hazardous. Hazardous driving conditions are possible on bridges and elevated roadways.

Rainfall of 1-3 inches is forecast, with little to no potential for widespread flooding. Tornadoes are not expected. Monitor official updates from the NWS New Orleans and gohsep.la.gov/emergency. This alert expires October 8 at 6:00 AM UTC.
