Wind Advisory Issued for Northern Maine: Gusts Up to 50 MPH Expected
A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Northern Maine, active from 8 AM to 5 PM today, October 6, with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
Residents in Northern Maine should prepare for strong winds today, October 6th. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Caribou has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 8 AM this morning until 5 PM EDT this afternoon.
West winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, are expected across Central Piscataquis, Northern Penobscot, Southeast Aroostook, Northeast Aroostook, Northwest Aroostook, Northern Somerset, and Northern Piscataquis Counties. These strong winds may blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down, potentially leading to power outages. Additionally, strong winds will create wind chills as low as 10 to 20 degrees on mountain tops.
The NWS advises that winds of this strength can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Exercise extra caution if you must travel today.
