Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Quarter-Sized Hail Expected in O'Brien, Sioux Counties

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 10:15 PM CDT for parts of O'Brien and Sioux Counties, with quarter-sized hail expected; residents should seek immediate shelter.

Residents in southwestern O'Brien County and southeastern Sioux County, Iowa, are urged to seek shelter immediately as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, SD. The warning is in effect until 10:15 PM CDT tonight, October 8.

At 9:24 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm producing quarter-sized hail was detected near Sioux Center, moving east at 25 mph. Radar indicated this hazard, and damage to vehicles is expected.

The storm's projected path includes Sioux Center around 9:25 PM CDT, Maurice around 9:30 PM CDT, Orange City around 9:40 PM CDT, and Alton around 9:45 PM CDT. Other areas that will be impacted include Hospers and Granville.

If you are in the affected areas, seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing large hail.
