IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED: The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of northwestern Iowa and southeastern South Dakota, effective immediately until midnight CDT tonight, October 9.

Residents in southwestern Sioux County (Iowa), northeastern Clay County (South Dakota), southwestern Lincoln County (South Dakota), southeastern Turner County (South Dakota), and northern Union County (South Dakota) are advised to seek shelter.

At 11:09 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located six miles south of Centerville, moving southeast at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing ping pong ball size hail. The National Weather Service warns that people and animals outdoors will be injured, and damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles is expected.

The storm is anticipated to be near Centerville around 11:10 PM CDT, Beresford around 11:20 PM CDT, and Union Grove State Park around 11:35 PM CDT. Other areas impacted include Alcester and Hawarden.

Instructions: Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. Report severe weather to your nearest law enforcement agency or the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls SD.
