Simsbury Mill Rate Drops to 33.67 After State Funding

Simsbury Mill Rate Falls to 33.67 After Late State Funding

Simsbury's mill rate for Fiscal Year 2027 will be 33.67, down from the 33.78 rate presented to voters in Saturday's budget referendum.

The Board of Finance reduced the rate after the state allocated additional funding for education and taxpayer relief. The adjustment cuts the projected tax increase on a median $450,000 home from $239 to $205.

State Representative Melissa Osborne and State Senator Paul Honig secured the late-arriving funds at the Capitol. The Board of Finance directed the savings to taxpayers rather than increasing spending or reserves.

The new mill rate applies to properties outside the Fire District and takes effect July 1, 2026.
