Simsbury Names Six Hometown Heroes - June 8 Ceremony
Simsbury will honor six residents and organizations as 2026 Hometown Heroes at a ceremony June 8 at 5 p.m. at Town Hall, 933 Hopmeadow Street.
The honorees are Christine Poler Fleming, Mike Long, Garance Herve-Mignucci, David Ryan, the Lions Club of Simsbury, and Simsbury Loan Locker Volunteers.
The town has recognized Hometown Heroes since 1986, when Governor William O'Neill invited Connecticut towns to designate residents for community service during the state's 350th anniversary.
A six-member Selection Committee reviews nominations annually. The committee includes the First Selectman, a Board of Selectmen member from the opposing party, a Historical Society member, a business leader, a previous Hometown Hero, and a representative from a veteran or service organization. Committee members select honorees who demonstrate selfless behavior that improves community life.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
