The National Weather Service (NWS) in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa NM issued a Special Weather Statement at 5:50 PM MDT today, September 29, 2026, indicating wind gusts up to 50 mph.
At 5:49 PM MDT, Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm 11 miles north of Road Forks, moving northeast at 20 mph. This storm is expected to impact Lordsburg, Lordsburg Playa, and Shakespeare.
The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Additionally, torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, which may lead to localized flooding.
