Sikeston Council Swears In Bizzell, Elects Teachout Mayor Pro-Tem

Staff Writer
June 11, 2026

The Sikeston City Council swore in new at-large representative Dwight "De" Bizzell and elected David Teachout as Mayor Pro-Tem during a reorganizational meeting Wednesday.

Bizzell won election April 7 and replaces Ryan Lindsey, who did not seek a second term. Mayor Greg Turnbow acknowledged Lindsey's service on the Professional Consulting Committee, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Tourism Advisory Board.

Teachout took his oath of office immediately after the council voted to promote him. Bizzell inherited Lindsey's three board and commission assignments. Other council members retained their existing posts.

Video of the meeting is available at https://youtu.be/2DQbW2UvTEE.
