A High Wind Watch has been issued for our community, urging residents to prepare for damaging winds this weekend. The National Weather Service in Morristown, TN, issued the watch today, October 8, at 1:24 PM EDT, effective until October 11 at 8:00 AM EDT.

East winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 50 mph. These conditions are anticipated from Saturday morning through Sunday morning.

The affected areas include Cherokee and Clay Counties in North Carolina, and Bradley, East Polk, Hamilton, Marion, and West Polk Counties in Tennessee.

The NWS warns that damaging winds could lead to downed trees and power lines, with widespread power outages possible. Travel may become difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Residents are advised to monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates as this weather event approaches.
