Westhampton Beach Junior Wins Suffolk County Female Athlete Award

Elizabeth Sultan, a Westhampton Beach High School junior, received the Suffolk County Female Athlete of the Year Award from the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame and Team Up 4 Community. The award includes a $1,000 scholarship.

Sultan competes on the varsity soccer team and runs hurdles and pole vault for the winter and spring track teams. She sings, plays French horn, participates in Key Club and serves on the Business Advisory Board.

She founded Peter's Packages, a grief support initiative named after her father. The project sends care packages containing puzzles, games, weighted blankets and crafts to children and families experiencing loss. Sultan created an Amazon Wish List for donations and partnered with her soccer team to raise funds through T-shirt and cookie sales.

"It is nice to see that hard work pays off while on and off the field," Sultan said.
