Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Half-Dollar Hail Threatens NW Iowa
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 10:30 PM CDT for parts of Cherokee, O'Brien, Plymouth, and Sioux Counties, with a threat of half-dollar size hail and potential vehicle damage. Seek immediate shelter.
Residents in northwestern Cherokee, southwestern O'Brien, northeastern Plymouth, and southeastern Sioux Counties in Iowa are urged to seek immediate shelter. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 10:30 PM CDT tonight, October 8.
At 9:50 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Granville, moving southeast at 35 mph. This storm is capable of producing half-dollar size hail, with damage to vehicles expected.
The severe thunderstorm is anticipated to impact Granville around 9:50 PM CDT, Marcus around 10:05 PM CDT, and Cleghorn around 10:15 PM CDT. Other areas that may be affected include Meriden and Larrabee.
For your safety, move indoors to a well-built structure and stay away from windows until the warning expires.
