VETLIFE App Helps Shalimar Veterans Access Earned Benefits
About 200,000 service members leave the military each year. Most receive briefings on their benefits but struggle to access them once they face problems, according to VETLIFE, a Shalimar-based organization serving veterans.
The gap isn't a shortage of programs or money. It's a shortage of guidance. Thousands of eligible veterans don't know where to start, fail to follow up, or don't realize action is required. The result: delayed care, financial instability, and worsening mental health.
VETLIFE developed the Battle Buddy app to close that gap. The free tool, available on iOS and Android, helps veterans identify earned benefits, receive step-by-step instructions, take immediate action, and receive follow-up support. It strengthens existing systems rather than replacing them.
In the last quarter alone, over 14,000 veterans used the app to start accessing VA disability benefits. When veterans move quickly from confusion to action, benefits arrive sooner, financial stress decreases, and healthcare engagement improves.
