Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Sevier County until 8:45 PM EDT

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Southeastern Sevier County, TN until 8:45 PM EDT, advising residents to seek immediate shelter due to 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail.

SEVIER COUNTY, TN – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Southeastern Sevier County until 8:45 PM EDT tonight, September 18, 2026. The National Weather Service in Morristown, TN, issued the alert at 8:01 PM EDT.

Residents in affected areas are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately for protection. The severe thunderstorm was located near Gatlinburg at 8:00 PM EDT, moving south at 10 mph.

The primary hazards include 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. Radar indicates that hail damage to vehicles is expected, and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is possible. Areas impacted include Gatlinburg, Smoky Mountains-Newfound Gap, Smoky Mountains-Balsam Mountain, Pittman Center, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
