The Oviedo community extends its condolences to the Smith family following the sudden passing of Teresa Renea Colclough, who departed this life on September 2, 2026. Colclough, 62, of Norfolk, Virginia, was an extended family member to the Smiths of Oviedo, Florida.
Born on January 4, 1964, to the late Johnnie and Willie Mae Colclough, Teresa was a graduate of Bethel High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from Thomas Nelson Community College. Her life was characterized by a strong spirit, an independent nature, and a genuine love for people.
Colclough received her early Christian education at Greater Walters AME Zion Church in Newport News, Virginia. In recent years, she continued her religious study, maintaining a meaningful interest in learning and growing in her understanding of faith. Her spiritual journey remained an important part of her life.
Teresa held a deep and abiding love for music and was a devoted sports fan. She proudly cheered on the Dallas Cowboys, Boston Celtics, and Boston Red Sox, and enjoyed the excitement of WWE professional wrestling. These interests were sources of happiness and connection she shared with those around her.
Colclough also had a lifelong interest in serving her country and community. She served as a clerk at Fort Eustis, taking pride in her work and connection to the military community. Later, she became a cab driver, a profession she enjoyed for the independence it offered and the many people she met and assisted. Through her work and daily interactions, she was remembered for her caring nature, independence, and willingness to help others.
Teresa leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Jocelyn E. Colclough Long, and brother-in-law, Richard Long; her best friend and roommate, Melinda Harrell; extended family members The Ellis Family in North Carolina and New York; and the Smith’s of Oviedo, FL. She also leaves behind a host of friends whose lives she touched throughout the years. She will be remembered for her distinctive personality, her many interests, her love of music and sports, and the connections she made throughout her life.
Though her departure was sudden, the memories Teresa leaves behind will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, and may those who mourn her find comfort in the life she lived, the love she shared, and the memories she leaves behind.
