Oviedo residents can now access detailed bargaining documents for the city's fire and police departments, including information on pension plans and union contracts, on the city's website.
The Department of Management Services monitors Florida's local government pension plans for sound funding. Oviedo provides actuarial summary fact sheets for both the Fire Department and Police Department. These fact sheets summarize basic plan information and compare it to averages from other Florida local government pension plans.
Prepared according to Florida Statutes Section 112.665(1)(e), each fact sheet includes the plan's actuarial status, current actuarial and benefit data, and minimum funding requirements as a percentage of pay. The documents also show a five-year history of funded ratios and a comparison to statewide averages.
For the Oviedo Fire Department, available documents include the 60T Report Retirement, Retirement Fund Compliance 2025, and Retirement Actuarial Valuation 2025. For the Oviedo Police Department, residents can find the Retirement Actuary Valuation 2025, 60T Report Retirement System 2025, and Retirement Fund Compliance 2025.
Union contract information is also available. Residents can request a copy of the IAFF Contract for firefighters or the PBA Agreement for police officers by contacting the City Clerk's Office at 407-971-5500 or [email protected]. The city notes that email addresses are public records under Florida law. Individuals concerned about their email address being released should contact the City of Oviedo by phone or in writing.
The city provides these documents in accordance with Florida Statute 112.665(1)(e), which requires local government units sponsoring defined benefit retirement plans and maintaining a website to link to the Department of Management Services' website.
