The Ormond Beach Arts District Board will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 4:00 PM to consider a permanent public art sculpture. This proposed artwork will honor Gulf War veterans, specifically those who served during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. The hearing will take place in Conference Room 103 at City Hall, located at 22 South Beach Street in Ormond Beach.
This sculpture, if approved, will find its home at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum (OMAM) at 78 East Granada Boulevard. The museum sits within the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area, making the application subject to Chapter 18 of the Code of Ordinances, which governs the Public Arts Program in the Downtown Overlay District. Residents can inspect copies of the application in Room 104 of the Department of Planning at Ormond Beach City Hall.
Stephanie Mason-Teague, Executive Director of the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens, coordinates this administrative request. The initiative aims to provide a lasting tribute to the service and sacrifice of Gulf War veterans, creating a focal point for remembrance and community reflection within the city's cultural landscape.
All interested parties can attend the public hearing and submit oral or written objections or comments. Failure to appear or comment during this hearing may preclude the ability to contest the proposed item at a later date. For more information, residents can contact the Department of Planning at (386) 610-0520.
