Oviedo families who purchased Melissa & Doug Lights and Sound Fire Trucks may need to take note of a recent recall affecting approximately 84,000 units nationwide. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall due to a potential choking hazard.

The hazard stems from the fire hose port, which can detach from the toy. This poses a risk of choking, particularly for young children. The recalled toys are identifiable by specific date codes and markings on the bottom of the toy, within the battery compartment box.

Consumers should look for toys with an arrow pointing to '25' for the year and a second arrow pointing to '4' or '5'. Alternatively, toys with the first arrow pointing to '26' and the second arrow pointing to '3' are also part of the recall. The date codes OET 25100, OET 25150, or OET 26064 are printed on the toy's packaging.

These Melissa & Doug fire trucks were sold at Target stores and online between July 2025 and August 2026. The retail price for the toy was approximately $30.

Parents and guardians who have the recalled toys are instructed to register them on the Melissa & Doug website. This registration will provide instructions on how to receive a free replacement toy or a refund. Consumers can opt for a $30 refund via check or $40 in store credit for melissaanddoug.com. To complete the recall process, customers must remove the batteries from the toy, write "RECALL" along with a unique code provided during registration on the front of the toy, and cut off the black hose. Pictures of the marked toy must then be uploaded to the registration page, according to the CPSC.

For further assistance or more information, consumers can contact Melissa & Doug directly at 800-718-5365 or visit their website.
