Strong Thunderstorms Bring 50 MPH Winds to Volusia, Seminole, Brevard

A Special Weather Statement is in effect for Volusia, Seminole, and Northern Brevard counties until 3:00 PM EDT, warning of strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 50 mph. Seek shelter indoors immediately.

Residents in Volusia, Seminole, and Northern Brevard counties should seek shelter indoors immediately as strong thunderstorms are moving through the area. The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 3:00 PM EDT today, October 2, 2026.

At 2:28 PM EDT, radar indicated a line of strong thunderstorms extending from DeBary to north of Port Canaveral, moving northwest at 20 mph. These storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 50 mph. The primary impact is gusty winds that could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Areas impacted include Deltona, Sanford, Titusville, DeLand, and New Smyrna Beach, as well as Inland Volusia, Northern Lake County, Seminole, Coastal Volusia, Inland Northern Brevard, Mainland Northern Brevard, and the Northern and Southern Brevard Barrier Islands. If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building until the statement expires.
