Hurricane Isaias: Evacuation Information and Who to Call

A reminder that City Hall, the Mary Esther Public Library and all City parks remain closed through Friday, October 9. City Hall’s phone line has a recorded message with emergency numbers. Help is still available through the contacts below. Evacuation. Okaloosa County has ordered a mandatory evacuation of Zones A and B, effective noon Thursday. The order includes portions of coastal Mary Esther. Find your zone by entering your address at https://myokaloosa.com/gis_ps. If you are in Zone A or B, please leave now while roads are clear. County shelters opened at 6 p.m. Thursday; the current shelter list and evacuation details are at https://myokaloosa.com/eoc/home. Who to call Life-threatening emergency: 911 Water or sewer emergency: Jacobs, 850-420-7324 (answered 24 hours) Power outage: Florida Power & Light, 1-800-4OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243), the FPL app, or online. Please report your outage even if you think a neighbor already has. FPL’s Power Tracker map shows outages and restoration estimates. Downed power line: Stay far away. Call 911 or FPL at 1-800-468-8243. Gas smell or suspected leak: Leave the area first, then call 911 or Okaloosa Gas at 850-729-4700 (24 hours). Shelters, evacuation and County updates: Okaloosa County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) County emergency alerts: Sign up at Alert Okaloosa or text OKALOOSAFL to 888777. A few things that help. If you run a generator, keep it outside and away from doors and windows, and never plug it into a wall outlet. Please do not drive through standing water. Where updates will come from. We want to make sure everyone knows what they are and the process of the Charter Review Committee who suggested the changes.
