Backyard Chicken Keeping Program City ordinances allow the opportunity for City residents who occupy detached single-family homes and duplexes to be able to keep up to six chickens in their backyards. In order to participate in this program, residents must obtain a Backyard Chicken Keeping Permit through the Community Development Department. Please Note: If you wish to obtain a "Backyard Chicken-Keeping" permit, you will need to participate in a "Chicken Keeping" class. The Osceola County UF/IFAS Extension Services offers the "Backyard Poultry Basics" class.
