A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Dallas, with hazardous winds up to 60 mph and significant flooding expected from early Saturday morning until Saturday afternoon. Residents should move to safe shelter and prepare for potential power outages and road closures.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Dallas, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham AL. Residents should finalize preparations as tropical storm force winds and significant flooding rain are expected to impact the area.
Peak winds are forecast to be 35-45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. These hazardous winds are expected from early Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon. Potential impacts include damage to lightweight structures, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. The NWS advises moving to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Rainfall totals of 2-4 inches, with locally higher amounts, are anticipated. This could lead to moderate flooding, potentially causing evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and roads may become impassable due to floodwaters. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
Tornadoes are not expected at this time. For more information and to prepare, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
